By far the best arrangement we have so far tested for CPU Cooling in the PaQ 4U-550 is:
•
ThermalRight XP-120
•
Fan sucking air through the Heatsink (i.e. blowing up), so that you can:
•
Fit the Exhaust Fan Duct to the CPU: this mates with Case Rear Exhaust Duct.
This arrangement works well because the XP-120 is an extremely efficient CPU cooler, and its main rivals, the larger Tower Coolers, are too big to fit in a 4U format case. It is efficient, because it employs a large (120mm or 140mm) fan running at low rpm, and because the physical size and shape of the XP-120 contributes to a clean exhaust air path in the PaQ cas. In addition, the combination of Fan Exhaust Fan Duct and Case Rear Exhaust Duct prevents hot air re-circulating inside the case. |
